If anyone has been following the weather in Wales recently, they would know that we are currently experiencing a wide variety of different weather conditions. We've had bouts of snow, (large) hail, sleet, high winds, and a weather condition known as 'thundersnow'. Thundersnow occurs when instead of rain falling during a thunderstorm, so it's pretty aptly named.
While these weather conditions have had adverse effects in many areas across Wales, it has had an interesting effect on the South Wales gorges. For instance, the snow that has fell has covered the forestry areas with a blanket of snow, creating a beautiful white landscape that is penetrated by the occasional green bristle and surrounds the flowing waters of the rivers. The snow has also cause the rivers to reach their higher levels, so that they are flowing faster than usual and causing the pools to be deeper than usual. The cold has also caused some of the smaller water flows to ice over, so that there are spectacular iced waterfalls around the area, although thankfully the large ones are unaffected.
This has created the perfect conditions, to enjoy the gorges in South Wales. Situated only a short distance from Cardiff and Swansea, the Canyoning activity, we are able to take you into the heart of this beautiful area, to experience being in the rivers and waterfalls first hand. The equipment we provide will keep you warm during the venture so that you can fully enjoy the snow covered area in relative warmth. Seeing the South Wales valleys in this condition is an experience of a lifetime. Come and join us.
