Well the winters well and truly here the weekend has been cold and the water is getting colder across the sea's from Cardiff to Swansea, but that dosen't mean we cant get in just means we get harder and wear more neoprene.
You will definitely need this the week coming up, the swell and the waves are going to be HUGE, and not for the faint hearted. The surfing will be something to be witnessed, the swell prediction is up to 20 foot waves across the South Wales region, meaning EVERYWHERE even Barry Island will have surf this week, there will also be very high winds so look for the sheltered breaks like, Barry, Coney Porthcawl, Caswell Bay Swansea. Surf and wind is crazy all week with early morning big tides so we are in for a ride. I think Coney Beach in Porthcawl, 30 minutes from Cardiff will be your best option.
One activity that is definitely a NO GO is Coasteering, even we will not be getting in this week, better to get into the mountains and go Canyoning or Gorge Walking the favourite of all our Stag and Hen parties. The water is flowing and the scenery is amazing, there will be no better place to be than on the Gorge this week especially as the Surf is TO BIG!!
Kayaking in the rivers should be good, we could do with a little more rain to get a bit more flow, but still good on most rivers, so just watch yourself in the water this week, its going to be Big and Scary.
