Well where do we start, the weather bomb has blasted on us and so has thunder snow! The swell has been HUGE, but also quite blown out with only sheltered beaches working, close to Cardiff there has been Coney Beach in Porthcawl for reasonable Surfing Conditions and then all the way to Caswell and Langland Bay in Swansea for the other protected beaches.
The surf is pretty much the same again except for Saturday with the swell dropping and the wind possibly changing to an North Easterly Direction Rest Bay in Porthcawl could be a good option with the Hight Tide in the late morning 10 am onwards, might even be a shout surfing on the dropping tide about 12 ish as it may clean up.
Coasteering again is definately OUT OF BOUNDS on all venues, the wind and swell everything are all wrong so steer clear, we dont want to upset the RNLI now do we.
Canyoning and Gorge Walking are a different matter, the sites closest to Cardiff and Swansea are running exceptionally high at the moment but could drop to the perfect level over the next couple of days. in fact Saturday could be Epic. The river was on .94 meters yesterday but I'm predicting we should be down to .50 on Saturday which would be perfect.
Kayaking in the Rivers today should be awesome as well as the rivers are banging bringing the flow to the perfect lecel, but only for very experienced paddlers.
So a mixed bay all round, the Canyoning, Gorge Walking and Kayaking should definitely be approached with caution and keep an eye on the wind, swell and tide for the Surfing.
