River levels are still quite low in the Brecon Beacons area so all of our river based activities, including Gorge Walking and Canyoning will be running across the weekend. Whilst the low levels mean that we can run the activities, there are still cautions that need to be taken. Plunge pools may be shallower than usual and you will need to asses each jump area. The ground has a good amount of water in it, so any any rain fall could have a big effect on both water levels and water flow force.
The waterfalls should still be flowing constant and they'll be plenty of challenges along the river to keep the adrenaline going throughout your activity. As always with our river based activities, you will need to be wearing the correct safety gear. This includes helmets, buoyancy aids, wetsuits and good sturdy footwear. Keep an eye on the weather, particularly in the mountain regions of South and Mid Wales but we cannot see any reason our river based outdoor activities won't be in full swing this weekend.
There is a chance that conditions on Sunday will be acceptable for Coasteering to run. Saturday looks to be off with strong onshore winds throughout the day. These winds are due to die down on Sunday and the swell is expected to be 2ft - 4ft. If it is on the lower end of that estimate and the wind is as expected then sheltered bays should provide the conditions to allow some Coasteering activities to run.
Keep in mind that the tide is quite small for South Wales over the weekend, with high tide being around eight and a half metre. This can have a big effect of what parts of the activity can run. As with Gorge Walking and Canyoning full safety equipment is always required (which we provide you with); including helmets, buoyancy aids, and wetsuits.
We're not expecting to see huge swell across the weekend on South Wales beaches but there could be enough for a bit of easy surfing along most of our usual spots, including Rest Bay in Porthcawl and Caswell Bay in Swansea. Keep an eye on the wind as we could see some strong gusts, particularly on Saturday, so the more sheltered bays will probably be your best bet.
We're in full swing again this weekend as with have Stag Do's, Hen Parties, Social Clubs and Scout Troops visiting us across our sites in South Wales. We'll be running virtually a full weekend of activities with Gorge Walking and Canyoning, surfing lessons and beach days all being run. Once everybody has finished their various outdoor activities they'll be heading off to various parts of South Wales, including Cardiff for some late night partying, Porthcawl for more beach fun or into the Brecons on their camping trip.
