Levels on the River Mellte are low currently and with no heavy rain due in the next few days that is going to bring it's own challenges we need to be aware of. As the water levels drop and ground water levels reduce the soil will loosen. This could lead to extra debris falling into the river and making it's way down so you'll need to be aware of that.
You'll also need to be aware of water levels on the waterfall plunge pools and adjust your activities accordingly. There's still loads of challenging activities that can be done along the river and in the area so don't worry, you'll still be in for a fun and exciting day. Don't let the warmer weather fool you, water temperatures are still going to be cold, so even though it could be sunny and warm, you'll need to ensure you're wearing full thermal protection throughout the activity. As always full safety equipment will be required.
GORGE WALKING ACTIVITY SOUTH WALES UPDATE 09.05.2017
It has been exceptionally dry over the last few weeks which is strange for South Wales but there is enough water in the mountains for the rivers still to be flowing in the water falls region, there is rain on the way so keep an eye on the levels, rivers can flash through with the land baked and dry, this can also bring debris into the rivers.
It looks to be a mixed weekend for Coasteering. Strong winds on Saturday meaning it's unlikely we'll be able to run our Coasteering activities but Sunday the wind dies down and the swell will be still be low so fantastic conditions for Coasteering along the South Wales coast.
Water temperatures are starting to rise along the South Wales coast but they're still pretty cold and you'll need full thermal and safety protection for any of our water based activities. These include wetsuits, helmets, buoyancy aids and good sturdy footwear. The weather forecast is looking good so get down to South Wales and make the most of it.
Surfers are going to struggle to find any decent swell over the weekend on the South Wales coast this weekend. Saturday there are some strong winds but that is likely to just make the water choppy rather than create any real swell and Sunday the waters are flat and the wind drops right off too.
If you do want to get out for some outdoor fun then why not come and join us for some Gorge Walking or Coasteering?
