We are blessed with stunning scenery, unique landscapes and amazing wildlife here in the Brecon Beacons. Our Wet & Wildlife package will lead you through the rivers, waterfalls, rocks and trees to allow you to experience it in a way few ever get to.

Whilst we make our way through the gorge, we'll stop to look at how this landscape was formed, how it is continuing to change and complete a study of the wildlife that will form part of a study by The British Trust for Ornithology.

Whether you are looking to understand more about the science, the geography, the wildlife of the geology, our expert guides have years of experience, are qualified scientific researchers and an intimate knowledge of the gorge, it's history and the life it supports.

What is Our Wet & Wildlife Experience?

Our Wet & Wildlife Experience brings our Gorge Walking / Gorge Scrambling activities together with a study into the landscape and the nature that the gorge supports.

As part of the experience we will conduct a study into some of the birds that live here, particularly the Dipper, which has a truly unique way of feeding, being the only bird known to walk underwater in search of food. Our findings will be sent into a survey being run by The British Trust for Ornithology, so you can be part of supporting these birds habitat.

We will also explain how the gorge came to be formed over millions of years and continues to change through the forces of nature and the impact humans are having on the area.

The Wet & Wildlife experience is perfect for school trips and colleges. We can work with you to create the ideal activity, and can provide activities particularly suited towards most school subjects, from the latter stages of Key Stage 2 (KS2) through to Key Stage 5 (KS5) and beyond. We can also cater for groups such as scouts and guides and again can work with you to create the ideal activity.

Gorge Scrambling is one of our most popular events with all groups; waterfall climbs, wild swimming, trekking through rivers, climbing river banks, rapid runs and jumping off waterfalls into crystal clear plunge pools all in the stunning setting of the waterfalls region in the Brecon Beacons National Park in South Wales.

Just 45 minutes from Cardiff, 25 minutes from Swansea, 20 minutes from Brecon town itself.

We are registered with and licensed by the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority (AALA), which ensure we follow good safety management practices and never expose people to avoidable risks. We are one of the only companies providing Gorge Walking, Gorge Scrambling and Canyoning that have been licensed by AALA.

We are also registered with South Wales Outdoor Activities Providers, a member of the British Ornithology Society and participate in their research programmes. Our guides are also heavily involved with the conservation and management of the gorge, working with the Brecon Beacons National Park Authority to ensure the area is looked after and management correctly.

Who is the Wet & Wildlife Activity Suitable For?

You don’t need any previous experience to go Gorge Walking. Our experienced guides will tailor the event to suit all levels of experience and ability. Most persons of general fitness and ability and above the age of 8 years old are able to take part in Gorge activities.

Most parts of the activity are optional so if the bigger jumps are not your thing or the thought of swimming in the rivers doesn't appeal then there is always the option to observe while still partaking in the whole event.

You don't need to be a strong swimmer, although certain parts of the activity may require a small amount of swimming. Don't worry if you can't swim though, as we said above, we can always find a way to ensure you can participate. If you are particularly nervous around water, get in touch and we can go through things in more detail with you.

You will be provided all the required safety equipment for any Gorge Walking activity, including a buoyancy aid, safety helmet and wetsuit.

The Wet & Wildlife activity is ideal for schools, colleges, youth groups and anybody that wants to understand the area, landscape and wildlife in more detail. We can run the event for groups as small as 4 and can cater for almost any size group above that.

Where does the Activity Take Place?

Our Wet & Wildlife Activity is held in the stunning Waterfalls region of the Brecon Beacons National Park in South Wales. The sites are easily reached from Cardiff (approx. 45 mins), Swansea (approx. 25 mins), Porthcawl(approx. 30 mins) and Brecon Town itself (about 20 mins).

If required we can arrange exclusive return transport from any area in South Wales at reduced contract costs , or simply make your own way there with our directions.

Do You Offer Group Rates?
