This is quite a tricky forecast this week for gorge walking, canyoning, gorge scambling in the Brecon beacons waterfalls area close to Cardiff, Swansea and the South Wales area. The rivers are quite high at the moment and the land is saturated with water so any rainfall will have an immediate effect on the river levels and water flow. There has been heavy showers through out the day and the week.
At the moment the river levels on the Mellte river are .42 meters which is an acceptable level of waterflow for both the Mellte and the Sychryd rivers, however with the rainfall predicted over the next few hours this may push levels upto .60 meters on the Mellte which would be too high in our opinion, however the Sychryd river may be running lower and be more accessible.
Keep an eye on the rainfall and the river levels as they will be fluctuating on the higher levl
Coasteering Activities In Cardiff, Swansea & South Wales
We are experiencing big surf and swell conditions at the moment and for the next few days, so the coasteering in the areas around South Wales, Cardiff and Swansea is definitely a no go at the moment. Plus point however is that the surf is pretty good around the region.
Only place as usual is West Wales on the protected cliff St Davids and the Blue pools, 2 hour journey from Cardiff but may be worth it.
Surfing, Surf Kayaking, Beach Days and Paddle Boarding
All surf and swell based activities are looking good throughout the week with big swells in the region, may be an idea for the less experienced to hed to the sheltered spots in the area, Coney Beach in Porthcawl, Caswell and Langland in Swansea may be better options.
