WEATHER - Heavy weather this week with gale force winds and heavy rain nearly everyday and especially over the next few days. Heavy Rain from Thursday through to Monday and weather warnings in certain areas of the country. Temperatures will be moderate at 14 - 15 degrees and winds high and mainly Westerly. Very high winds on Friday and this will push the rain through quickly in the region. Need to keep a careful eye on the weather this week as it is very turbulant. http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/2648385?day=2) (https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/forecast/gcjqmsw80)
RIVER LEVEL and TEMPERATURE - .72 meters high and 8 Degrees (http://rloi.naturalresources.wales/ViewDetails?station=4121)
EXPECTED RIVER LEVEL OVER NEXT 72 HOURS - .72 meters - 1.5 meter
GORGE WALKING, CANYONING, GORGE SCRAMBLING CARDIFF AND SWANSEA PREDICTED REPORT - At the moment the river levels are high at .72 meters which means there is definitely no prospect of Canyoning on the upper Mellte river over the next few days. Today there may be a possibility of gorge walking and gorge scrambling on the lower Sychryd river. After today completely is dependant on the rainfall and how long it lasts in the region. With the ground wet and the rivers high the additional rainfall may push the river levels above acceptable for the activities. The event may turn into a technical swift water event with expert guidance and knowledge. This would definitely be dependant on the river levels and the expertise of the person in control. Hourly checks on the river levels would be the best indication of the suitability of the conditions for gorge walking only on the lower sychryd rivers up to bridge pool. There will be updates over the next few days with relation to the heightened conditions.
WIND - Gale force winds in store this week mainly from the West and South West. Thursday will be in the region of 30mph, Friday 40mph, Saturday 25mph, Sunday 30mph and the rest of the week down to 20-25mph all predominantly from the West and South West.
SEA STATE and SWELL - Very turbulent sea state and swell this week ahead. Gale force winds and storms will create a very stormy sea state through the region, huge swells for the next few days and 9 meter tides will be very stormy seas in the channel and all local areas.

Gale force winds, big swells, big surf, heavy rain, weather warnings through the region. There is definitely no coasteering or Canyoning for the next few days and only a possibility of Gorge Walking on the lower Sychryd Rivers and surf in protected Easterly facing beaches which may get suitable conditions. We will provide an update through the week to monitor the outdoor activities in the area and appropriate conditions.
UPDATE OUTDOOR ADVENTURE ACTIVITIES SOUTH WALES - Rivers are running high at 1.04 meters on the Mellte, there is definitely no Canyoning but a possibility of Gorge walking with Swift Water if the levels drop through the night. A site assessment will do carried out in the morning to assess the river levels and site safety for entering the water. Swift water protocols must be adhered to with the river running at the high level. Coasteering is definitely out of the question with huge wind and swell conditions through the region.
