With the winter season upon us, activities such as kayaking come more to the forefront, as people still wish to experience the sea and rivers however with reduced contact. Kayaking refers to the activity in which one or two people use a double ended paddle to guide a kayak through the sea or a river. In some cases this can be done through rapids in rivers, giving rise to white water rafting. In the area around, Cardiff and Swansea where we are based, there are many places to use kayaks. The South Wales coastal area is relatively vast, allowing the use of kayaks in the sea around Cardiff Bay, Porthcawl and Swansea. The Porthcawl area is often used by kayakers wishing to join the surfers on the waves, however kayaks can also be used to explore the close surrounding sea area.
Kayaks can also be used in rivers as previously stated. A good location for this is is the river Ogmore, which has a long run, and multiple entry points, allowing you to tailor the length of the run. The mouth of the river is located at Ogmore-by-sea, which is a short distance from porthcawl.
Here at Quest Adventures there are a plethora of activities to get involved with throughout all seasons, and we provide you with the equipment to undertake these activities in any weather and temperature.
