With the nice weather we've had over the last few days here in South Wales, levels on the Mellte and Sychryd rivers have dropped a little. However we're due some rain in the region over the next couple of days, which should see the river levels returning to a good level and keep the waterfalls flowing.
This will mean conditions are once again looking challenging but fun for both Gorge Walking and Canyoning in the Brecon Beacons area and with ground water levels still decent we should see a fairly constant flow. Whilst the forecast rain is welcome, if it becomes particularly heavy we could see some flashing on the rivers, so as we always tell you, it is vital to be informed of the rainfall levels in the region in the previous 12 - 18 hours of your activity.
Coasteering is off this weekend. We're expecting some huge swell along the South Wales coast on Saturday and some pretty big swell on Sunday too. On top of this, we also have some really strong Southerlies and Westerlies over both days, with gusts possibly reaching 40 knots!
With those conditions looking to carry over into the early part of next week, your only real option for an activity is to head in to somewhere like the Brecon Beacons for some Gorge Walking or Canyoning which will give you all the thrills of Coasteering away from the coastal conditions.
Well we're certainly expecting some swell this weekend! Forecasts are expecting swell size on the South Wales coast to be between 3m - 4m (10ft - 12ft), so Surfing conditions are going to be incredibly challenging for all but the most experienced of surfers.
On top of the huge swell, we've also got some very strong Westerlies and Southerlies, with gusts to 40 knots, so even our most sheltered of bays, such as Oxwich Bay in Swansea are going to have challenging weather conditions.
We're back on the rivers this weekend, with a mix of Hen Parties from Cardiff and Swansea, Stag Do's from Cardiff and Porthcawl and some more groups who are staying in the Swansea and Brecon Beacons areas. They'll be partaking in both Gorge Walking and Canyoning activities.
