Well a mixed bag again for the weekend and through the next week, we are predicted heavy wind, heavy rain, cold temperatures, big swells even thundersnow which sounds epic. All in all a week of good and bad.
Lets start with the good, the Canyoning, Ghryl Scrambling and Gorge Walking are looking very good across the region in the brecon beacons 40 minutes from Cardiff and 30 minutes from Swansea. The region is running well through the waterfalls with the rivers on full flood, precation must be taken only the very experienced should use the sites with local knowledge and expertise. Must keep a eye on the rainfall, because the land is saturated the rainfall could push the rivers to busting and make the event to dangerous.
This is all good for the kayaking in the rivers, with the heavy flow we are getting good kayaking conditions for the brave hearted and experienced rivers across Cardiff, Bridgend, Swansea and Newport are all working well and waterfalls flowing at their height.
Coasteering across the region especially near Cardiff is a definite No Go, the swells to big, the winds to big, the weather and the sea state is all wrong, need to look for the easier sights in Pembrokeshire I'm afraid.
Surfing is a very mixed bag, there is a big swell but also big winds so the Surf will all be working on the beaches depending on the wind and tide. later in the week the swell is huge 3 - 4 meters but so is the wind, but could work on Coney Beach in Porthcawl, langland and Caswell in Swansea, the swells there just need the right wind, keep an eye on windguru for your update.
So overall like we have stated a mixed bay and all dependant on the weather in the week, best idea is to check the wind, tide and rainfall and if your unsure give us a call.
