Canyoning, Gorge Walking and Gorge Scrambling near Cardiff and Swansea in South Wales: Conditions for the canyoning activity are perfect this week. The river levels are stable at optimum heights and not much rainfall is predicted so that there is no risk of flooding. This will allow the activities this week to run smoothly although as always, the water will be cold so thermal protection is needed. Wetsuits, buoyancy aids and helmets will be provided however it is always advised to bring under layers such as t shirts (rash vests if possible) and swim shorts. We are keeping an eye on the rainfall over the weekend to make sure we have the right river levels and conditions.
Coasteering near Cardiff and in Swansea: As the swell is pushing above 3ft the coasteering this week will be too dangerous to consider. Any groups wishing to do the coasteering activity will either be re-scheduled for another day where it is possible or alternatively, be offered a place on the gorge instead.
Surfing and Surf Kayaking in the South Wales region : The swell is quite high for most of the week so it is not advised for beginners to go surfing this week, however there are a few days where the swell allows this to be possible. The intervals are relatively short however, the wind conditions make the specific conditions unpredictable. Look on windguru for the specific wind strengths and direction to get an indicator of the wind effect on the swell over the next few days.
