PREDICTED 72 REPORT
This is a tricky one for the next few days with a downpour of snow across the region especially in Cardiff, Swansea, Neath, Newport, Bridgend for gorge walking, gorge scrambling, ghyll scrambling and Canyoning the river levels are between .25 meters and .5 meters which is good for the canyon and Gorge Walking but could get high in regions, the water as ever is very cold and so is the air temperature extremely cold, so good thermal protection is essential. The problem will also be access, with the snow the remote roads will be blocked so accessing the sites will be hard for the emergency services.

WIND - The wind is strong Easterlies all week and very cold, ranging from 20mph - 50mph lasting the weekend then easing into Monday and Tuesday (www.windguru.cz/5693)
SEA STATE AND SWELL - Winds are strong offshore with the Easterlies so swell should be low but Easterly facing beaches will be affected with stormy conditions, wind then to change and bring in bigger swells across the region (https://magicseaweed.com/Southerndown-Surf-Report/4321/)
SWELL - 1FT - 5FT
HIGH TIDE TODAY - HT6.05pm HEIGHT 9.50Meters.
PREDICTED 72 HOUR REPORT
Mixed bag again this week, the swell is small on the weekend but rising through the week around the coasteering venues especially Barry near Cardiff, Ogmore By Sea, Southerdown, Caswell Bay Swansea an Mewslade. Could be good all round conditions for coasteering over the next few days in these regions especially the more protected areas facing westerly, the main issue will be the cold, it is going to be brutal, strong very cold winds feeling - 15 degrees on some days and bitterly cold sea, so if your brave enough to get in the water wrap up warm. There is also the snow which will affect the emergency services getting to the sites if there were any incidents, so our view would be to steer clear of coasteering until the snow clears.

There is a clean but small swell accross the beaches close to Cardiff, Southern Down, Llantwit Major, Aberavon, Swansea, Llanllei, and upto Stackpole Quay for the next couple of days. The big draw back is the Easterly wind being very strong and very cold, conditions will be messy on more Easterly facing beaches such as Coney in Porthcawl, head for the Westerly beaches and wrap up very warm. The weather and swell will be far better into next week with the swell up to 5 foot but it will be messier with the South Westerly winds.
Cardiff, Swansea & South Wales Group Outdoor Activities
What can we say the Beast from The East has gripped the region all across South Wales the snow in falling and the wind is brutal, the problem really is access, with most of the activities in remote areas the roads to the sites will be in-accessible, which means getting to the sites will be nearly impossible for both user and emergency services so safety is the absolute priority therefore we will be cancelling all our activities. We personally will be getting our gear on and heading out into the mountains, there's nothing better than a white out in the mountains.
