Gorge Walking, Gorge Scrambling, Canyoning near Cardiff, Swansea and South Wales: were singing in the rain, just singing in the rain, what a glorious feeling were happy again!! Yes finally we have had prolonged periods of rain and the rivers are flowing again, hurrah!! The waterfalls rivers of the Mellte and the Sychryd are flowing again, the ground has saturated alot of the water but there is still alot to go round. All gorge activities are acceptable with the river levels being perfect for the activity. Just remember the only way out of the Mellte Gorge with a seriuos injury is by helicopter as seen last week with the evacuation of a casualty with a broken ankle, the full rescue was under taken by mountain Rescue and the RAF Sea King helicopter.
Coasteering near Cardiff, Swansea in South Wales - Coasteering again is looking at best indifferent, the swell is big and the wind is high through most of the week but there may be a break on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week. Exit and entrances will be dangerous with the high wind and the large swells, all activities must also be carried out on the hight of the tide when the swell is below 2 foot and the wind either offshore or light onshore. Best areas should be Caswell and Muslade in Swansea.
Surfing and Surf Kayaking - Surf is in abundance again, there is a huge swell coming through this week but there is also huge wind, so the most protected areas will have the best conditions. Coney beach, Langland, Caswell bay in Porthcawl and Swansea areas will get the best conditions if the swell and winds are South Westerly. Wave should be heavy but spilling on the protected areas and bumping and heavy on the open beaches such as Rest Bay and Llangenith.
Events and Activities - This weekend is a huge one for all our activities, we are Canyoning with Jon, Ian, David and Adam who all have groups who are on Stag weekend in Cardiff. We also have a big Gorge Day with Mike, Niel and Adam heading for the mountains for their day in the rivers and the rock. The water is flowing so the event should be Epic. We also have Sarah and the girls on the Hen Weekend Surfing in Porthcawl.
