EXPECTED RIVER LEVEL OVER NEXT 72 HOURS - 1.5 meters - ?
PREDICTED 72 REPORT
The rain has been falling heavily for the last few hours and the rivers are very high, there is more rainfall to come so expected levels are unpredictable, the highest level this year was 1.8 meters on the Mellte and we are nearing that level now. Rivers are volatile and will need extreme caution and coverage to use, later in the week the levels will drop to normal to this time of year and be acceptable for all gorge walking and canyoning events. The only activity suitable for the next few days will be dry gorging and entering the water only on lower flowing accessible sections when entrance and exit is safe, all areas will have to be assessed by highly trained and experienced operatives . The rainfall may ease off over the night into Saturday allowing for safe entrance and exit into certain parts of the rivers. Dry areas should me monitored by used safely with the right amount of coverage by trained members. If the river levels were to rise further then they would be deemed unsuitable to enter at any section, the sychryd river may be the only safe point of access and egress.
UPDATE - 5PM - After checking the levels on the Mellte and the Sychryd the rivers are definitely to high for any safe gorge walking or canyoning events. Dependant on rainfall the morning will also be to high with a secondary evaluation for the afternoon.

Cardiff, Swansea & South Wales Group Outdoor Activities
We have booked in Jessica, Ben and Matt with there Stag and Hen weekend groups staying in Cardiff, initially Canyoning but this is unsuitable due to the conditions, so we are looking to do dry side scrambling in the gorge area accessing the rivers only when suitable and acceptable. The rivers are very high at the moment so we shall be bouldering, traversing, scrambling, taking pictures and only every entering the water on safe low level zones mainly on the sychryd river with the lower flow predicted.
