What a mixed bag of weather we've been having these last few days here in South Wales. Bright sunshine, heavy rain and some strong winds too. All that rain means the water levels are fairly high at the moment on both the River Mellte and River Sychryd and water flow force will be a challenge. The ground is also saturated which means any rainfall in the area will flow straight into the rivers, increasing levels further so it is absolutely vital you are aware of rainfall levels at all times, before and during any activity.
With current water levels, Canyoning activities may need to be adjusted or postponed if we get the any kind of sustained rainfall in the mountain regions. Gorge Walking should still be able to go ahead unless we have some prolonged periods of heavy rainfall over the next couple of days. Water flow force will be strong whatever happens this weekend, so you must ensure you are with an experienced, knowledgeable professional and you have all of the required safety gear!
Coasteering is off this weekend in South Wales. Strong onshore winds and big swell are not the conditions we want for a Coasteering activities so we'll need to look for some other outdoor activities to get our adrenaline fix. With such varied landscape and conditions in South Wales, that's not a problem for us and we can always arrange activities such as Gorge Walking or Surfing Lessons for you.
We're all set for some fantastic surfing conditions across South Wales this weekend. Swell is going to be a decent size, without being too big to surf and whilst we have some potentially strong winds, our more Easterly facing bays, such as Caswell Bay and Oxwich Bay in Swansea or Coney Beach in Porthcawl will give you a reasonable level of protection from the wind.
If you're not a particularly experienced surfer, you should speak to us about our surf instruction or supervision packages so you can experience these conditions with the support of one our experienced instructors.
With the challenging conditions things have had to be changed a little this weekend but one of the advantages of providing such a wide range of outdoor activities is we can always find you an enjoyable, challenging and unique activity for your day.
We'll likely be down in the Brecon Beacons for our Gorge Walking activities, with a good mix of both Stag Do's and Hen Parties from across South Wales, including Cardiff, Swansea and Porthcawl, joining us. We will also be hoping to run some Surfing Lessons and get out into the water ourselves to take advantage this weekends epic conditions for Surfing.
So, whatever the conditions, whatever the weather, we'll be outdoors on one activity or another.
